Abuse & Moderation Policy
A clear, community-first approach to reporting, review and enforcement—so TalkaTree can remain respectful and safe.
Effective date: January 1, 2026
TalkaTree is built in the spirit of the Palaver Tree: listening, respect and honest conversation. This policy explains what we consider abuse, how members can protect themselves and how moderation decisions are made.
1. What we consider abuse
Abuse includes content or behavior that threatens, targets, harasses, dehumanizes or harms another person, as well as attempts to manipulate the platform in bad faith. We also act on scams, illegal content and dangerous misinformation that could cause real-world harm.
2. Protecting people first
Our priority is to reduce harm quickly while applying our rules fairly. When necessary, we may limit visibility, restrict interactions or remove content during a review. Context and patterns of behavior both matter.
3. Your safety tools
TalkaTree provides simple controls to manage what you see and alert us when something crosses the line.
- Block: hide an account’s content and reduce unwanted interaction.
- Report: flag a post, comment, message or account that you believe is abusive, harmful, illegal or contrary to our Terms.
4. Reporting and review
We review reports and take action based on the available evidence. We may request additional context when needed.
- Speed: we aim to review and respond promptly, with priority given to the most serious risks.
- Context: we may consider the content, surrounding conversation and relevant account history.
- Outcomes: content may be removed or limited, and accounts may be restricted depending on severity.
5. Enforcement actions
The action taken depends on severity, repetition and risk to the community.
- Content action: removal or reduced visibility of posts, comments or other content.
- Feature limits: temporary restrictions on posting, commenting, messaging or other functions.
- Account action: suspension or termination for serious or repeated violations.
6. Responsible reporting
Do not submit false or malicious reports. Repeated misuse of reporting tools may lead to restrictions. For help, contact support@talkatree.com.
